Feds okay $2 billion natural gas line from Columbiana County to Michigan

WASHINGTON -

Federal regulators have approved a $2 billion project to build a controversial 250-mile long natural gas pipeline from Columbiana County to Michigan.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Friday gave the green light to a plan by Nexus Gas Transmission LLC to construct the 36-inch diameter underground pipeline that would carry natural gas products from the shale gas fields of Eastern Ohio to Michigan and Canada.

The project includes five compressor stations in the Ohio including one in Hanoverton and another in Salineville.
